New Study Looks at Healthy Buildings
http://www.smartbuildingsmagazine.com/news/new-study-looks-at-healthy-buildings It has long been thought that internal building air quality leads to better cognitive function and therefore productivity. This becomes even more important for organisations located within highly populated city areas. There are many ‘off the shelf’ options that a client can utilise to monitor internal air quality and Cube can provide easy to install wireless solutions that can be added to any existing BMS system. This approach will allow you to identify problem areas within buildings, historically log the data and set poor air quality alarm notifications.

Companies showing ‘unrealistic optimism’ in the face of potential energy shortages
http://www.modbs.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/17509/Companies_showing__91unrealistic_optimism_92__in_the_face_of_potential_energy_shortages.htmlThe possibility of energy shortages and failures in the next 12 months is very much a reality. Many companies are totally unaware as to both their resilience to an energy failure or their ability to recover from it. All to often companies shy away from Black Building Tests as they are worried about what systems will not come back on line in a fully working state. It is far better to discover this under controlled conditions than in the depths of an actual emergency. Cube can help you develop a Critical Energy Management Strategy (CEMS) within your building systems to help greatly reduce your vulnerability to such failures. We consistently aim to do a first class job but it’s always a pleasure to receive an email like this….
“I wanted to drop you an email and extend my thanks to Simon for doing a brilliant job, when you use a company you haven’t used before it is always a bit of a risk whether you have made the right choice. I am please to say I’m glad I selected you and even more please that Simon was able to sort out the issues the client was having and he even picked up items that the maintenance company should have noticed. You have a fantastic engineer there in my opinion.” Paul Day – Choice Integrated Services Ltd

Smart HVAC on the Up
http://www.smartbuildingsmagazine.com/news/smart-hvac-on-the-up Within the BMS industry we are at the technical coal face with regard to experience with Smart HVAC or, more commonly known as Packaged Plant. It is our responsibility to integrate these products with other building systems and essentially bring them to life in a suitable way. While there is no doubt that this approach represents the future of HVAC, plant clients need to be made aware that it is not without it’s pitfalls. From a clients perspective these Smart HVAC products are thought of as a part of the overall BMS installation. The problem with this is that they also think that they can be made to function in anyway that is required by means to adapting the software. While this may work with BMS controlled plant these Smart devices are mostly running on fixed software that cannot be easily adapted. It is when a client wants to change how their building and HVAC plant operates that they have the realisation that the smart plant control is mostly set in stone and their requirements may not be totally possible.
