Engineers Play Important Role In Providing Clean Air
Engineers Play Important Role in Providing Clean Air Cube Controls has successfully provided advanced environmental monitoring solutions for many clients. We even have reliable wireless solutions that can be painlessly installed in any building. Providing this kind of essential environmental monitoring has never been easier.

Smart HVAC on the Up
http://www.smartbuildingsmagazine.com/news/smart-hvac-on-the-up Within the BMS industry we are at the technical coal face with regard to experience with Smart HVAC or, more commonly known as Packaged Plant. It is our responsibility to integrate these products with other building systems and essentially bring them to life in a suitable way. While there is no doubt that this approach represents the future of HVAC, plant clients need to be made aware that it is not without it’s pitfalls. From a clients perspective these Smart HVAC products are thought of as a part of the overall BMS installation. The problem with this is that they also think that they can be made to function in anyway that is required by means to adapting the software. While this may work with BMS controlled plant these Smart devices are mostly running on fixed software that cannot be easily adapted. It is when a client wants to change how their building and HVAC plant operates that they have the realisation that the smart plant control is mostly set in stone and their requirements may not be totally possible.

Let’s Get Radical – About Heat
Within the Building Services sector it is very common for a previous tried and tested solution to get used over and over again. This can be seen through all echelons of building design and it’s a habit that needs to be broken if real progress is going to be made in terms of getting the most out of new technologies and energy savings. Targeting Training to Meet the Building Performance Challenge
There is a definite and worrying skills shortage within the controls industry that has the potential to impact heavily if not addressed very soon. The technologies we employ to deliver the required control systems are continually developing and evolving.
Introducing new engineers to our industry can only help support this as they are in-tune with general technical developments and can grow with it.

Exploiting the Benefits of IT Convergence in Buildings
Exploiting the Benefits of IT Convergence in Buildings http://www.modbs.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/2271/Exploiting_the_benefits_of_IT_convergence_in_buildings_.html This article highlights the current technical advances in standardising communications between previously proprietary equipment. The benefits of this this technical convergence should not be ignored, but such developments have to be approached with your eyes wide open. There are current trends within the ‘hacking’ community to use these systems as back doors to a client’s data or to even instigate a DOPS (Denial of Physical Service) attack to disrupt operations. Even the more advanced control systems that now operate as little more then embedded PCs using a file based operating system can fall foul of a ransom-ware attack. It is for this very reason we started Cube2 (www.cube2.uk.com) and developed technologies to protect against this.- 1
